Flock is a team communication app, in the vein of Slack or HipChat. It sees use by a number of medium-sized companies, including Canadian coffee giant Tim Hortons. It offers both one-to-one chats and group messaging, chat and email organization tools, and integration with other pre-existing services such as GitHub, Drive and Trello.
Lots of features, lot of them needed
Flock offers many features that make it competitive with other team-building applications, and a few of its own. Its interface is quite well-made, although it is susceptible to clutter if multiple teams aggregate a bunch of different communication onto it, and its integration with other services is top-notch. It does, however, struggle with notification options other than name-based alerts, and threading across large or distributed teams is somewhat poor.
Flocking to the new thing
In summary, Flock is a solid alternative to apps such as Slack that already see a ton of use today. If your team doesn't need the few specific features it lacks, and doesn't mind learning a new team communication app, then Flock could be a very snug choice for it.
